Surge tanks

Description

Surge tanks are designed to accumulate water in water supply systems, heating, air conditioning and other technological systems at the housing and utilities infrastructure and other industries.

They perform the function of heat storage tank, cold accumulators, buffer clarifier and storage containers in hydraulic systems for various purposes. So, we release:

  • water accumulators
  • refrigerant tanks
  • propylene glycol tanks
  • ethylene glycol tanks
  • heat storage tanks
  • surge tanks
Surge tanks for fluids storage and issuing

Surge tanks mounting for heating and water supply allows to:

  • protect the water pump from wear (the tank stores water supply, thereby reducing the number of the pump unit starts)
  • smooth out the pressure hammer
  • maintain the constant operating pressure in pipelines

Surge tanks production at the SARRZ Plant

The Saratov Resevoir Plant produces surge tanks for water in vertical and horizontal versions up to 30 m3.

Due to the fact that aurge tanks and are operated with high corrosion processing medium, the shell and the bottoms are designed and manufactured from high-strength materials with corrosion allowance. The tank shell varies from 4 to 10 mm (for carbon and alloy steels) and from 3 to 8 mm (for stainless steel).

Surge tanks design

Vertical surge tankDepending on the customer's requirements surge tanks are manufactured in vertical or horizontal form, which are installed at site on the supports (two or four). The body is a welded steel cylindrical shell with conical, elliptical or hemispherical bottoms, the shape of which is desined according to the the operating pressure.

The shell is equipped with nozzles for processing medium supply and removal. There is also a drain connection and a branch pipe for a safety valve. The following additional equipment may be provided according to the project binding:

  • baffles
  • perforated manifolds
  • inner or outer coil
  • flange connector
  • assembly cover
