The Saratov Reservoir Plant has completed a package of work in vertical tank for bitumen production and erection for the asphalt-concrete plant.

The tank manufactured and erected at the facility is distinguished by an increased effective volume (3316 m3), as well as a bitumen heater made of seamless pipes, which was specially designed by TM Bitumtek for effective heating of bitumen in long-term storage tanks, avoiding overheating and coking of the processing medium. Thanks to the natural convection of bitumen and a small intense circuit, a fast and safe heating of the daily portion is provided.

The last project will allow for the reception, storage and delivery of bitumen in conditions of season-related high demand for it.

Main specifications:

  1. Stored product - bitumen;
  2. Tanks amount - 1 pcs with a capacity of 3000 m3;
  3. Material - 09G2S;
  4. Erection procedure - Roll method;
  5. Additionally - a heater with a heating area of 180 m2 made of seamless pipes with a hot oil as a heat-transfer liquid;
  6. Heat insulator: with a thickness of 150 mm on a shell and 200 mm on a roof, profiled galvanized sheet with a thickness of 0,7 mm.

Specific features and complexities of the project

The key feature of this project was the limited time of the term of contract for the supply of a bitumen tank: KM, TN and TI  project design, the manufacture of all metal structures, including four heater coils, delivery, erection, hydro-testing, anti-corrosive coating application and assembling of thermal insulation.

All construction and assembly work was carried out in the conditions of an operating enterprise without stopping the work flow.

Four coils were made of seamless pipes with heated hot oil as a project design for the implementation of the Customer's technical requirements for the operating condition of bitumen storage at temperatures up to +120 ° C.

 

The Engineering Department of the Saratov Reservoir Plant together with the manufacture department carried out the following works:

  • KM, TI and TN projects design for a vertical tank with a nominal volume of 3000 m3 for bitumen storage at the facility in Bashkortostan;
  • manufacture of the shell (diameter 18980 mm, height 11920 mm), the bottom of two rollable plates with annular plates, conical panel roof, stair tower, manholes, fencing platforms and other secondary steel;
  • delivery of tank structural steel by road;
  • construction and assembly work (groundwork and foundation work, erection of steel structures and assembly of heater coils, hydro-testing of the tank, anti-corrosive coating application, fixing of thermal insulation).
