A packaged supply of metal steel of a vertical bitumen tank was carried out for a road builder, as well as design and construction and assembly work were carried out.

A special heater was provided, as well as thermal insulation of the shell and roof in order to maintain the operating temperature of the process product in winter and to improve the physicochemical properties.

Main specifications:

  1. Stored product - bitumen;
  2. Tank amount - 1 pcs with a capacity of 980 m3;
  3. Material - St3cp5-sv;
  4. Erection procedure - Roll method;
  5. Overall dimension - diameter 10430 mm, shell height 11920 mm;
  6. Additionally: a heater with hot oil, stair tower, caged service platform, hatches and nozzles.

Specific features and complexities of the project

Vertical tank for bitumen made of St3sp53-sv

The tank is designed to provide the Customer`s enterprise with bitumen stock during the period of its high demand. In this regard, the Customer has set a requirement to introduce a tank by the beginning of the summer period.

The project work package also included design work: KM project, TN project and the TI project development. The supply and assembly of thermal insulation was carried out by a third-party organization upon Customer request.

The heater is made of St20 steel and consists of three coils, namely seamless pipes with a diameter of 108 mm and a pipe wall thickness of 6 mm. The total heat exchange surface area is 73 m2. Hot oil heated to a temperature of +240°C will be used as a heat-transfer medium, which will keep the operating temperature of the product at a level up to +110°C.

 

Complex works on the supply of the vertical tank with a capacity of 980 m3 for bitumen storage included:

  • development of a design package: KM project for tank metal steel, TN project for a heater, TI  project for thermal insulation;
  • manufacture of primary steel members and secondary steel of the vertical tank, as well as process equipment: rollable bottom and shell plates, conical roof, heater, hatches and pipes in the shell and roof, stair tower, service platforms with fencing;
  • vertical steel tank and equipment delivery by road;
  • construction and assembly works: foundation work, unrolling of the bottom plates, erection of the shell, installation and fastening of the fixed roof, tie-in of the process hatches and pipes, installation of the internal pipe heater, hydro-testing.
