All-welded vessels with mixing device, elliptical bottom and head and jacket are used for mixing homogeneous and heterogeneous media for technological purposes, for example, to obtain paints and dyes, wine materials, various bacteria and cells, etc. So, depending on their application, the following processes take place:
- thermal co-digestion
- mass transfer
- heat transfer
They can be operated with neutral working fluids, as well as aggressive, toxic, dangerously explosive and fire dangerous. But there are several restrictions on the content and characteristics of the stored liquids:
- the density - up to 2000 kg / m3
- maximum dynamic viscosity - 200 Pa x s
- temperature – from -40ºC to +350ºCС
- particles mass fraction - up to 30%

The body is an vertical body one-piece with an elliptical bottom and an elliptical lid, where a mechanical mixing device (mixer) is installed. The choice of elliptical bottoms is due to high operating pressure - up to 6.3 MPa. In addition, they can operate under vacuum with a residual pressure of not less than 665 Pa.
At the designing and manufacture stages the fittings and hatches are provided, which are necessary in the process of operating. The following processing equipment is installed in them: pressure gauge, thermometer, safety valve; through them, the product is filled and drained, the vessel is cleaned and purged.

The main equipment is agitators of various types, which are installed vertically in the housing on the pillar. Thus, the Saratov Reservoir Plant provides the following types of mixing devices:
- blade (three-bladed, six-bladed), gear, turbine, frame agitators for fluids with dynamic viscosity up to 50 Pa x s
- spiral, ribbon (with scrapers) agitators for media with viscosity more than 50 PA x s
For safe operation, it is important to maintain interface seal of the mixing device shaft and the body. There are three types of seals: mechanical, gland and hydraulic seal. The type of the seal is designed individually, as it depends on the hazard category of the stored substances:
- double mechanical seals for explosive and noxious substances of hazard category 1, 2 and 3
- single mechanical seals, gland seals and hydraulic seal for non-explosive fluids of hazard category 4
A coil may be installed inside the housing, which can be used for heating or cooling of the operational product. The heat-transfer medium may pass through the coil, being heated under heat exchange process and supplied to the consumer.
When the all-welded vessel with elliptical bottom, head and a jacket is operated at low temperature, inner temperature control should be performed. For these purposes, the Plant SARRZ manufactures the model with a smooth welded jacket.
The so-called jacket is welded from the outside to a certain height. The resulting space is filled with heat-transfer medium - water, steam, antifreeze or any other liquid that can transfer and maintain thermal energy.

The Saratov Reservoir Plant manufactures apparatus of this design with a volume of up to 50 m3 on the basis of the information provided on pressure and temperature, the requirement for the mixer capacity, medium characteristics (density, viscosity, content). They are indicated either in the Questionnaire or in the technical requirements.
Depending on the requirements, the engineering department selects the steel grade, the fittings location and necessary technological equipment, etc.
To manufacture two steel grades are mainly used:
- St3sp (carbon steel)
- 12X18N10T (stainless titaniferous austenitic steel)
It is possible to use other steel grades on individual order.
To protect the inner and outer surfaces, the shells are coated with anti-corrosion substances that extend operations.
