Design and construction of an energy complex for a bitumen terminal in the Oryol region

The Saratov Reservoir Plant is engaged in the construction of the infrastructure of a large bitumen terminal in the Oryol region. Our specialists have performed preparation of designs for the supplied equipment, and construction design supervision. At the moment, a part of the equipment of our own make is being installed.

Under the contract with the Customer SARRZ carried out:

• design, manufacture and supply of a vertical bitumen storage tank with a capacity of 5 000 m³;
• design, production, delivery and installation of an energy complex for a bitumen terminal.

According to the design solution, the bitumen tank RBT-4900 is made of St3sp5 steel with a shell thickness of 7 to 10 mm (lower ring). Heat insulation with a thickness of 200 mm was provided on the tank roof and shell in order to maintain the operating temperature of bitumen (up to +160°C) .

The energy complex for the bitumen terminal includes:

• thermo-oil boiler plant with a heat rate of 10.5 MW (10500 kW);
• saturated steam generation unit with a productivity rate of 3000 kg of steam/hour.

Main specifications of the project:

1. Scope of work on the project: basic design, detailed design, construction design supervision; installation of the energy complex;
2. Scope of supply: vertical bitumen tank RBT-4900, thermo-oil boiler plant, saturated steam production unit;
3. Tank specification: steel St3sp5, rolled tank sheets, bottom with annular plate, conical panel roof, heat insulation 200 mm;
4. Thermo-oil boiler plant of 7 modules based on 3 diathermic oil heaters.
5. Saturated steam production unit of 3 modules based on a steam boiler with a reversible furnace.

Specific features and complexities of the project

The energy complex is equipped with modern European equipment that meets the operating needs of the bitumen terminal according to international standards.

The color scheme of the bitumen terminal energy complex face corresponds to the design concept of the Customer's facility.

All the equipment of the thermal oil boiler plant and the saturated steam generation unit had to be placed in a clearly confined spaces, including in a two-level block-modular construction.

The erection of the bitumen storage tank was performed by a contractor under the construction design supervision of the SARRZ design engineers.

In terms of the bitumen terminal infrastructure design and construction, the Saratov Reservoir Plant performed:

• design and detailed documentation development for bitumen tank and energy complex;
• manufacture of the VST vertical tank by rolling (two rolls of the shell, two rolls of the bottom, elements of the frame and roof decking, central and radial roof panels, platforms and guards on the roof, a platform and a foam maker stepladder, and other steel structures);
• production of block-modular boiler plants for diathermic oil and saturated steam generation;
• shipment of equipment to the Customer's facility by road: 7 block modules of a thermal oil boiler plant; 3 block modules of a saturated steam generation unit;
• construction design supervision during the bitumen storage tank erection;
• step-by-step installation of two boiler plants of the energy complex.
