The Saratov Reservoir Plant has delivered a vertical tank with a capacity of 200 m3 for an enterprise whose one of the activities is the road construction and maintenance/repair. The tank is designed for bitumen storage, which is involved in the process chain for the asphalt processing.
The work performed by SARRZ included the design, manufacture and erection of the vertical steel tank VST-200 and allowed the Customer to prepare for the construction of roads in Ufa on time. Understanding the importance of the Customer's objective, in which the tank is involved, the quality of services and efficiency of actions on our part ensured the rapid performance of work exactly in accordance with the work specification.
Main specifications:
- Stored product - bitumen;
- VST amount - 1 pcs, the capacity - 200 m3;
- Material - 09G2S;
- Structural elements of the tank: plate-by-plate shell, bottom, roof, stair tower, heater;
- Optional: heat insulation with a thickness of 10 mm, tubular heater medium - oil;
- Overall dimensions: diameter 6630 mm, height 5960 mm.
Specific features and complexities of the project
The bitumen tank was needed by the certain period of time, since the road construction was carried out during the warm season after rise in temperature and before winter sets in. The request for the bitumen storage tank manufacture was received at the end of 2016. Our Plant had three or four months left for project engineering, design approval, steel structures manufacture and tank erection.
A special feature of the project was the development of the Process Design Package: KM project (steel structures), detailed design, anticorrosive protection design, heat insulator design, heater design, method statement. On the basis of the developed designs, the Engineering department performed all the works, including delivery, erection, anti-corrosive coating application, fixing of heat insulation and hydro-testing, which allowed the Customer to come on line on time.
The Engineering department of the Saratov Reservoir Plant executed the work on the supply of the vertical tank on the turnkey basis:
- project engineering of steel structures, steel structures details, heat insulation, heater, anti-corrosion protection;
- manufacture of rolled platess of the shell, bottom, steel structures of the roof, stair tower, service platforms;
- steel structures delivery;
- cutting-in of tank equipment, including pipes in the shell and roof and a manhole in set with stiffening plates;
- vertical steel tank erection with a capacity of 200 m3;
- paint application on the inner and outer surfaces of the tank in order to protect the surfaces for 20 and 10 respectively;
- heat insulation assembly;
- inner heater installation (tubular coil) in order to maintain the bitumen operating temperature and to decrease its density during loading-unloading operations;
- hydrotesting of the erected tank to ensure the leak tightness of the welded joints.
All works were performed in accordance with the Customer`s work specification and state standards at the time of design/manufacture/erection (GOST 31385-2008, corporate standard STO-SA-03-002-2009 and Safety Guide RB 03-69).
The set of supply documentation for the bitumen tank contains the developed projects, as well as welding procedure qualification records, Acts of visual inspection and measuring control, non-destructive testing, Material Receiving Inspection Reports and acts of hydrostatic testing for water tightness, Certificate of conformity and Declaration of compliance.
