Description
Settling tanks OGN-P are used for oilfield water and gas escape from crude-oil emulsion due to baffle plates placed inside the body. They also purify oil from mechanical impurities and suspended particles.
The Saratov Reservoir Plant produces oil settling tanks with baffle plates with a volume from 25 m3 to 200 m3 made of steel grades 09G2S and 16GS, depending on the operating conditions and Customer requirements.
Settling tanks design and operating peculiarities
Settling tanks of this type have a horizontal cylindrical body with elliptical heads. The walls and heads contain a manhole, a stripping manhole and fittings for oil emulsion inlet, dewatered and refined oil, oilfield water and gas outlet, drainage, installation of process equipment (pressure gauge, interface level gauge, shut-off and safety valves, thermometer, interface level controller, etc.). The equipment configuration is selected on basis of the the operating procedure characteristics at the facility.
The installation is ground-based on saddle supports or platforms. The housing can be heat-insulated, which allows to operate the settling tanks at sub-zero temperatures.
There are two compartments inside the OGN-P type settling tank: the first has baffles and is intended for settling, the second accumulates oil already cleared of oilfield water, gas and impurities.
First, the oil emulsion enters the lower part of the shell, then separates from components due to the gravitational force. Then the oil rises and enters the storage compartment through the baffles. The separated water moves along the lower part of the shell to the water relief fitting. The task of intermediate baffles is that they separate oil from water droplets and particulate matters (in the upper part) and oil droplets (in the lower part).
Separated water and oil move from the lower and upper parts of the shell and enter the space between the intermediate baffles. The contained mechanical impurities settle to the bottom and then are removed.
As the tank is filled, the already refined oil goes from the space above the baffles to the oil compartment, and then removed from the tank.
